Helping you restore a sense of calm and peace in a chaotic and stressful world

Welcome!

Amethyst Counseling is a counseling practice based in Broomfield, Colorado. I understand that reaching out to find a counselor can be an intimidating and fearful process. If you're looking here, you're probably wondering 'how do I know if counseling is what I need?' or 'how can I know if a counselor I pick will work for me?' Also, the cost of therapy is a question on many potential client's minds. I hope I can allay those fears and trepidations.

New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.

Let’s face it—life is downright messy at times!

Are you looking for someone to understand your feelings of grief, anger, sadness, or confusion? Someone to help you get back to "normal?" Or maybe just someone to sit in the mess with you?

Are you an Emergency First Responder looking for someone who understands your unique lifestyle, stressors and schedule?

Everyone feels overwhelmed, stressed out and frustrated by circumstances now and then and it can be difficult to just “shake it off.” This might be especially true in the aftermath of a crisis, a stressful event or traumatic experience (such as loss of a job, the death of a loved one, a broken relationship, an accident, etc.), or if your profession routinely exposes you to these things.

Why Amethyst Counseling?

Legend has it that the Amethyst stone helps maintain emotional stability, inner strength, and the ability to think clearly and critically without allowing emotions to cloud judgement. The Amethyst is also thought to be helpful in confronting and overcoming hidden or suppressed feelings, bringing them to the surface so that something positive can take place. In many ways, mental health therapy accomplishes the same. These traits and abilities can be very helpful when you are experiencing overwhelming stressors, crisis situations and/or traumatic experiences.

My goal is to provide you with a safe space to explore and develop these. I utilize evidence-based techniques and approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Choice, Person-Centered, Gestalt and other theories of counseling to help you understand what is in front of you and to gain the skills necessary to work through it in a healthy way.
